Bio
Kajia Cao received her PhD in Information Technology from the University of Nebraska in 2007. She received her postdoctoral training on computational biology and bioinformatics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she developed several computational models using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data to study aging in multiple model organisms. She joined the Division of Genomic Diagnostics (DGD) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in June 2013, where she developed and established clinical grade bioinformatics pipelines for genome, exome and targeted panel next generation sequencing based clinical tests and built clinical bioinformatics infrastructure that supported automated data processing workflows and genomic data analysis platform. In October 2024, she joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA as an Assistant Clinical Professor. Her research interests mainly focus on bioinformatics solutions for accurate diagnosis in cancer and constitutional diseases.
