General Pediatrics
The Division of General Pediatrics emphasizes outstanding clinical care for patients across socioeconomic backgrounds and levels of medical complexity, cutting-edge health services research, and training of future academic leaders in the field of general pediatrics.
Division faculty members provide comprehensive primary care at six major UCLA locations (Burbank, Porter Ranch, Santa Monica, Torrance, Westlake Village, and Westwood). In addition, we provide subspecialty care in Adolescent Medicine (Westwood), Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics (Westwood), and Pediatric Dermatology (Santa Monica and Westwood).
We are closely affiliated with multidisciplinary clinical care programs for vulnerable children, including the UCLA FIT for Healthy Weight Program, the UCLA Pediatric Medical Home Program, the UCLA Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect Team, and the UCLA TIES for Families Program. Our faculty members also provide clinical services at Olive View - UCLA Medical Center and community institutions including the Venice Family Clinic, Northeast Valley Health Corporation, and Orthopaedic Institute for Children.
The Division is the primary home of the Children's Discovery & Innovation (CDI) Institute Health Services Research (HSR) Program. The HSR program aims to develop national leaders in child health services research, with a special focus on redesigning primary care for medically and socially vulnerable children in Los Angeles and beyond. Since its inception in 2013, the Program has leveraged its philanthropic funding to obtain additional grants and contracts and is already one of the leading child HSR programs in the nation. Its current core members have led community-engaged projects with LA Unified School District, LA County Juvenile Court Health Services, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and other community clinics and service providers serving low-income families throughout LA.
Our Division provides all of the primary care training for the UCLA Pediatric Residency Program. Division faculty members supervise resident continuity and urgent care clinics in four community locations (Olive View - UCLA Medical Center, Northeast Valley Health Corporation, Venice Family Clinic, and UCLA Westwood Children's Health Center). Division faculty members also provide primary mentorship for all pediatric postgraduate research fellows in the renowned National Clinician Scholars Program (formerly Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program) and the NRSA Primary Care & Health Services Fellowship.
