Inpatient
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center is one of the most technically advanced hospitals in the world. It is a world-renowned tertiary care medical center and encompasses the operation of the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital, which ranks among the nation's top pediatric hospitals.
The hospital's design is open and light-filled, organized in pavilions with glass walls facing outdoors, and includes gardens and gathering places that surround the new building. Individual patient rooms all feature windows that afford panoramic views and also bring in an abundance of natural, healing light.
The Medical Center boasts state-of-the-art surgical suites, radiology center, nuclear medicine department, etc. Fellows have direct access to pathologists, pediatric radiologists, pediatric anesthesiologists, pediatric surgeons, other pediatric subspecialists and other ancillary staff.
Every floor has its own satellite pharmacy, procedure room, respiratory therapy workrooms, and resident doctor sleep rooms, making every floor nearly self-sufficient. The latest wireless technology has been installed so that the hospital is paperless. Clinical staff has access to electronic patient charts at every bedside. Wireless digital technology makes it possible to boast a film-less imaging environment.
The new state-of-the-art RRUMC has 520 large private patient rooms. Located within RRUMC, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital includes a 90-bed inpatient unit that is counted among the medical center’s total of 520 beds and an outpatient Children’s Health Center.
UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center
The UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center is a 266-bed hospital that serves as the cornerstone of UCLA's community network. The hospital recently completed a major rebuilding project to replace most of the existing facility with a new, state-of-the-art medical center offering optimal inpatient facilities.
As part of its commitment to the health and well-being of children, UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center features Santa Monica's only inpatient pediatrics unit.
Outpatient
Fellows will be provided with outpatient experience consisting of the following clinical programs: pediatric food allergy, skin allergies and atopic dermatitis, respiratory allergies and asthma, Immunology clinic (Jeffrey Modell Foundation Center of Excellence) and Adult Drug and Food Allergy Center at Santa Monica Hospital. Fellows see patients in clinic at Children's Health Center, Olive View-UCLA Medical Center and Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center).
The Children's Health Center is located in the 200 UCLA Medical Plaza Building on the Westwood campus. On site services include: radiology, laboratory services, nuclear medicine, medical procedures unit, infusion center, computers and access to the medical center's electronic health record and radiology viewing systems.
Olive View-UCLA Medical Center is an academic county hospital nestled in the foothills of Los Angeles County. They are enthusiastic about learning; teaching; and enjoy caring for county patients and the underserved. Fellows will experiece a strong emphasis on respiratory disorders while treating patients in an outpatient setting.
The Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center (The Ashe Center) is devoted to providing quality, accessible, state-of-the-art healthcare and education to support the unique development of UCLA students. Services include Primary Care, Women’s Health, Immunizations, Travel Medicine, Physical Therapy, Specialty Clinics, Radiology & Laboratory, and Acupunture & Massage—all on-site. Additional services such as Optometry and Pharmacy are available in the Ackerman Student Union. At The Ashe Center, fellows are exposed to diagnoses like exercise-induced asthma, food allergies in young adults, amoung other things.
Library Facilities
The Biomedical Library at UCLA is located on the first floor of the Center for the Health Sciences Building (across the street from the Medical Center). The library facility is available to faculty and fellows until 11 pm each day. UCLA subscribes electronically to all relevant journals in the field. Fellows also have access to UCLA's other university libraries.
