About UCLA Audiology Clinic
UCLA's Doctors of Audiology are state-licensed and expert in provision of services for people of all ages, from newborn to geriatric. Audiologists provide diagnostic hearing evaluations, evaluation of amplification needs including hearing aids, cochlear implants and assistive technologies, and related counseling and consultation.
- Comprehensive Audiologic Evaluation for all ages - to determine type and degree of hearing loss in each ear. Clinic also provides advanced diagnostic procedures for the purpose of quantifying hearing loss in populations who cannot participate in a standard hearing test.
- Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) in babies, children or adults while in natural sleep or under general anesthesia. This test is a physiological evaluation of the hearing pathways and can be used to assess hearing in newborns and infants, or children who are developmentally delayed and cannot participate in standard hearing evaluation.
- Otoacoustic emission testing - to evaluate cochlear (inner ear) functioning.
- Hearing aid dispensing - UCLA dispenses hearing aids from a variety of manufacturers. The audiologists do not receive sales commissions on hearing aids.
- Aural rehabilitation - for patients who have hearing loss or cochlear implants and need training on listening skills to improve communication abilities.
