FibroScan® testing for fibrosis
UCLA Health Santa Monica Hepatology* offers fibrosis (scar tissue quantification) and steatosis (fatty liver) testing via transient elastography. Fibrosis testing can help in determining if there is damage to the liver. The test is simple and uses shear waves similar ultrasound without radiation or contrast.
Fibroscan can help determine the fibrosis stage in conditions such as fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis A, B or C, autoimmune hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, and other chronic liver conditions.
