IBD Nutrition Clinic
What is the clinic?
Nutrition plays a crucial role in the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) as it directly impacts symptoms, disease progression, and overall well-being. Specific dietary choices can either exacerbate or alleviate inflammation and gastrointestinal symptoms associated with IBD. Tailored nutritional interventions not only support the body's healing process but also optimize nutrient absorption and promote overall gut health, thereby enhancing treatment efficacy and quality of life for individuals with IBD.
The combined IBD Nutrition Clinic at the UCLA Center for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases incorporates the latest evidence in making dietary recommendations personalized to each patient’s needs. Patients will be seen in a coordinated visit with a gastroenterology physician and dietitian, both of whom specialize in IBD and nutrition.
What makes our clinic unique?
We know that dietary recommendations for IBD patients are not one-size-fits-all. Our team takes time to understand your clinical profile - including your nutritional status, current and previous diets, and any known tolerances or intolerances. We also consider your medical history as well as any social and cultural preferences as we work together to understand how diet can help with your IBD.
