UCLA Health CORE Kidney Virtual Patient Conference: Educating, Empowering and Inspiring Hope
Join us on Sunday, March 21 at 11am for the second virtual kidney fair, a conference focused on bringing you the very latest research and information about the management of kidney disease at UCLA Health. Dr. Amy Weimer will be speaking on “Pioneering Gender Health at UCLA.” Other topics include COVID-19 and its impact, home dialysis, donation, transplantation, patient stories and much more.
PFLAG South Bay November Gender Expansive Meeting
The Transgender and Gender Expansive Virtual Monthly Meetup are facilitated meetings for the support and educational needs of transgender and gender expansive families. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 18th from 7-9pm. The presenter is Amy K. Weimer, MD, Co-Director of the UCLA Gender Health Program. Dr. Weimer will give a 20 minute presentation followed by Q&A and discussion.

UCLA Community Health Seminar - November 12 - Beyond Google: Real Talk about Supporting Transgender Youth
Jessica Bernacki, PhD and Brandon Ito, MD, MPH, behavioral health providers in the UCLA Gender Health Program, will discuss recommendations for supporting gender-diverse youth from childhood into young adulthood. The seminar will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2:30 – 4:00 pm in Conferernce Room 3 at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica, 1250 16th Street.
UCLA CME Live Course - February 8, 2020 - Comprehensive Medical Care for Transgender and Gender-Nonbinary Patients
The UCLA Gender Health Program presents an up-to-date, comprehensive and in-depth compendium of gender-affirming medical care. This course will feature sessions on gender-sensitive cultural awareness, behavioral health care, primary care, and medical and surgical gender-affirming interventions. All topics will be presented by members of the integrated, multidisciplinary UCLA Gender Health Program, to help providers from varied disciplines care for this population in a sensitive and effective manner. The program will be delivered in topic-specific sessions, each followed by a brief question and answer opportunity. Breaks for networking and informal discussion will be scheduled throughout the day.
This course is targeted toward anyone interested in in-depth exposure to medical care for this population, including physicians (in practice and in training) and allied health professionals in primary care, endocrinology, plastic surgery, urology, obstetrics/gynecology, as well as mental health professionals, social workers and nurses, and students of all above disciplines.
The seminar will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 in the Tampkin Auditorium at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles.
Models of Pride: Oct 19
UCLA Gender Health Program’s Amy Weimer, MD, Nupur Agrawal, MD, MPH and Jessica Bernacki, PhD, presented “TRANScending Medical Myths: An Interactive Workshop by Healthcare Professionals for Parents and Professionals Caring for Transgender and Gender-Expansive Youth” at this year’s Models of Pride, a free conference for LGBTQ+ youth, allies, parents and professionals. Models of Pride was held on Saturday October 19, at Los Angeles City College (LACC). More information.
UCLA Community Health Seminar: Gender Health and Hormone Therapy
Shira Grock, UCLA endocrinologist and UCLA Gender Health Program provider, will discuss transgender medicine with a focus on gender affirming hormone therapy. She will review the expected changes and possible side effects of masculinizing and feminizing hormone therapy. The seminar will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 6 – 7:30 pm in the auditorium at UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica,1250 16th Street.
UCLA Community Health Seminar: Facial Feminization Surgery
Justine C. Lee, MD, PhD, FACS, UCLA craniofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and UCLA Gender Health Program provider, will discuss the comprehensive evaluation, treatment and outcomes of facial feminization surgery including approaches to the brow bone, hairline, nose, jawline and neck. The seminar will be held on Saturday, September 7, 10:30 am to Noon in Conference Room 3 at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, 1250 16th Street.
