About us
The UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital Disorders Program combines the expertise of medicine, dietetics and psychology to deliver evidence-based, compassionate care for people with concerns about disordered eating or known eating disorders. Our program offers both outpatient and inpatient services. We partner with community professionals, families and clients to offer services for children, adolescents, young adults and their families on the journey to restore health and achieve recovery.
AYAM programs are distinct from but work in collaboration with the UCLA Inpatient Eating Disorders Program at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital.
The most common diagnoses treated include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) . We also provide outpatient and inpatient consultation for more complicated illnesses, in settings where it is unclear if disordered eating is a contributing factor to illness.
The distinction between “eating disorder” and “disordered eating” can be very subtle. Concerns that fall anywhere on this spectrum warrant a prompt referral, as early intervention is critical to both prevention and recovery.
Our Clinical Services include:
* Nourish for Life Outpatient Program
* Medical Stabilization Inpatient Program at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital
If you are concerned about your child or adolescent's relationship towards his/her food or body, we encourage you to set up a consultation for an initial evaluation.
