Message from our integrative medicine leaders

It is with great pleasure that we share our vision for the UCLA Health Integrative Medicine Collaborative.

Integrative medicine is a growing model within healthcare that blends Western medicine with complementary treatments that address the physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental aspects that influence health. These methods may include the use of vitamins and supplements, or practices such as yoga, meditation, and massage.

UCLA Health has a long history of using integrative medicine to provide patients with non-pharmacological options to manage symptoms of their disease. With national focus on opioid misuse and recent changes in The Joint Commission standards that require accredited hospitals to offer a non-drug pain treatment, integrative medicine is becoming an essential component of care at UCLA Health and a vital adjunct to traditional medicine.

To make it easier for patients to access our integrative medicine programs, UCLA Health has merged all of them into the UCLA Health Integrative Medicine Collaborative, with the goal of opening the UCLA Health Center for Integrative Medicine. This center will streamline patient services, house many of our lifestyle medicine programs, and foster comprehensive approaches to optimize health and wellness. UCLA has identified the site for the center in Santa Monica and will commit funding to begin the project, but philanthropic partnerships are needed to make this vision a reality.

Just as these services are an important part of the compassionate, patient-centered healthcare provided by UCLA, you are a vital partner in our efforts to establish this center. Your gift, coupled with UCLA Health's investment, will enable UCLA Health to employ a personalized strategy that considers each patient’s unique needs and will empower individuals to actively participate in their own healing and well-being.

We hope you will join us in our mission.
