This special program, created in partnership with the Department of Pediatrics and the UCLA Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program, offers personalized care tailored to the needs of teens. Achieving a healthy weight involves more than just surgery, especially for teens. At UCLA's Fit Program, we carefully review each patient through a complete evaluation to see if weight-loss surgery is right for them.

Clinical research and innovation

Our team is currently working on a clinical trial(Link is external) (Link opens in new window) called "Bariatric Surgery Outcomes". We're examining bariatric surgery affects different health aspects like body weight, bone strength, and how certain genes and chemicals in the body behave, especially in women of childbearing age. Our research is supported by grants from the American Society of Metabolic Bariatric Surgery and the Diabetes Endocrinology Research Center.
