All patients accepted onto a transplant hospital's waiting list are registered with the UNOS Organ Center, where a centralized computer network links all organ procurement organizations and transplant centers.

The National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF) provides guidance and emotional support to transplant patients by helping families and friends organize, launch, and sustain a fundraising campaign. NTAF also offers grants to eligible candidates.

Professional Organizations

NATCO, the North American Transplant Coordinators Organization, is the professional society of more than 1,750 transplant coordinators, and as such, is the largest group of transplant professionals in North America.
AST, the American Society of Transplantation, is an organization of 1,300 transplant professionals dedicated to research, education, advocacy and patient care in transplantation science and medicine.
ISHLT, the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, has over 2200 members from over 45 countries, representing over 10 different disciplines involved in the management and treatment of end-state heart and lung disease.
