We are devastated to share the news of a tragic loss to the UCLA Health family. Marrecca Fiore, senior media relations officer, passed away on May 5, 2021.
A powerful writer dedicated to telling stories with compassion and insight, Marrecca was a strong science communicator who managed media relations for the demanding neuroscience beats. Whip-smart and equipped with a dry sense of humor, she was a wonderful colleague who was always willing to offer her perceptive analysis or pitch in on a high-level project.
Before joining UCLA Health in 2019, Marrecca held senior writing, editing and management positions at Medscape, WebMD, Fox News and AOL. She spent nine years working as a newspaper reporter at various publications in Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York. Her work was recognized by the New York State Associated Press, Webby Awards, Web Health Awards, APEX Awards for Excellence, Azbee Awards and Common Cause RI.
Marrecca was a deeply respected and beloved member of the UCLA Health Marketing Communications department. She will be profoundly missed.
