WHAT:
UCLA will screen "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days," a film about a woman's efforts to obtain an illegal abortion in 1980s Romania, as part of a program titled "Politics, Law and Women's Health: Romanian and U.S. Experiences." The film, which won the 2007 Cannes Film Festival Palme D'Or prize, will be followed by a panel discussion about the lessons to be learned from Romania's reproductive health policies and about doctors' experiences both in Romania and the U.S. when contraception was restricted and abortion was outlawed. The event is sponsored by the Iris CantorUCLA Women's Health Center and the UCLA Center for European and Eurasian Studies.
