Annette Stanton, professor of psychology in the UCLA College, will receive the Harold H. Benjamin Innovation Award from the Cancer Support Community Los Angeles at the organization’s fifth annual Gilda Gala in October.
Stanton, who is a part of the division of cancer prevention and control research in the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, centers her research on specifying factors that promote psychological and physical health in individuals who confront health-related adversity.
Through her research, Stanton identifies factors that promote or impede psychological and physical health in adults and couples undergoing chronically stressful experiences, with a focus on the experience of cancers of the breast, eye, pancreas, lung and prostate.
