For workers in a hospital, preventing the spread of infections is vital. UCLA's goal is to have zero health case-associated infections. The most effective way that hospital staff can do that isn't with some high-tech disinfecting laser — just thorough handwashing.
To reinforce the critical importance of proper handwashing, video producer Jinah Kim, along with input from the UCLA Infection Prevention team, recently created a funny parody video, featured on the UCLA Health System's website, that takes washing one's hands from mundane to Hunger Games-style competitive.
Shooting took place over two half-days, said Dr. Daniel Uslan, assistant clinical professor in the division of infectious diseases.
"It was great fun," Uslan said. "Everyone involved recognized the critical importance of hand washing and had a blast working on the video."
