For the 24th consecutive year, the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center has been recognized as one of the best locations in the country to receive cancer care.
The U.S. News & Special Report 2023-2024 best hospital specialty rankings named the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center No. 1 in both California and the Los Angeles metropolitan area and No. 4 in hospital cancer care in the country.

UCLA Health placed #1 in California and in Los Angeles* in the annual by U.S. News. This is the 34th consecutive year UCLA Health has appeared on the national honor roll, a distinction reserved this year for only 22 hospitals among more than 4,500 evaluated across 15 specialties and 21 common procedures and conditions. The U.S. News evaluation is intended to assist patients in choosing where to seek care for all types of conditions, including cancer. The UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of only 54 cancer centers designated as “comprehensive” by the National Cancer Institute. Cancer centers with this designation engage in cancer prevention, community outreach activities, survivorship studies and programs, improving the quality of life for people while being treated for cancer through symptom management, studying disparities in access to healthcare services in underserved communities and providing interventions, and in training the next generation of physician-scientists, basic scientists and population science researchers.
This designation is also only given to cancer centers that meet the highest standards in research focused on developing new and better approaches to preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer.
Numerous successful therapies developed by UCLA physicians and scientists are changing the treatment paradigms for patients with cancer. Since 2003 alone, research conducted at UCLA has resulted in 21 new U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved cancer treatments.
The UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center and its physicians and researchers have been honored with numerous prestigious awards. Among many recent honors, UCLA researchers have won three Lasker awards since 2009, including two Lasker-Debakey Clinical Medical Research Awards and the Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award.
