For 30th consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report places UCLA on national honor roll reserved for top medical centers
UCLA Health hospitals in Westwood and Santa Monica ranked #1 in Los Angeles, #1 in California and #6 nationally in the 2019–20 assessment published today by U.S. News & World Report.
For 30 consecutive years, UCLA has earned a spot on the national honor roll, which names the 20 hospitals that provide the highest quality care across a range of specialties, procedures and conditions.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals' performance in 16 specialties and nine procedures and conditions. Hospitals must earn strong grades in several areas of care to earn a spot on the honor roll; only 165 hospitals were ranked nationally in even one area.
UCLA Health earned top 10 rankings in 12 specialties: nephrology (3), pulmonology and lung surgery (3), diabetes and endocrinology (4), geriatrics (4), ophthalmology at the UCLA Jules Stein and Doheny Eye Institutes (5), gastroenterology/gastrointestinal surgery (6), neurology and neurosurgery (6), cardiology and heart surgery (8), orthopaedics (8), psychiatry at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA (8), rheumatology (9) and urology (10).

U.S. News methodologies are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, patient volume and nursing quality.

UCLA Health comprises four hospitals on two campuses — Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital on the university's main campus in the Westwood area of Los Angeles, and UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center — and more than 180 medical practices throughout Southern California. It also includes the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
