UCLA Health is a leader in providing equitable care for patients who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, according to an assessment by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
The foundation’s annual , released today, assessed healthcare facilities on policies and practices reflecting equitable treatment and inclusion of LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees.
Criteria included LGBTQ+ patient-centered care, patient services and support, community and patient engagement and employee benefits and policies. Among the measures were non-discrimination policies for patients and employees, equal visitation policies for same-sex partners and staff training.
All four UCLA Health hospitals were awarded the distinction of “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader.” They are Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA and UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the education arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.
More than 600 hospitals participated in the survey.
