For the second year now, Los Angeles Magazine has published a list of “Top Doctors” in Los Angeles. UCLA Health leaders congratulated the more than 180 UCLA Health physicians who are listed in the 2019 guide as among the city’s best doctors.
The results were based on a Los Angeles Magazine survey that asked physicians throughout Los Angeles County to identify the doctors they considered to be at the top of their field.
“The process isn’t scientific, but it is logical,” the magazine explained in a summary of how it compiles the top doctor list. “The idea is to tap into the wisdom of professionals who know medicine and know the people working within it.”
Leadership of UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA noted the strong representation of UCLA’s physicians for the second year in a row.
“Our physicians are respected by their colleagues throughout Los Angeles, and patients choose them because of their commitment to high quality, compassionate care,” said Johnese Spisso, president of UCLA Health, CEO of the UCLA Hospital System and associate vice chancellor of UCLA Health Sciences. “This acknowledgment helps highlight UCLA Health’s commitment to excellence in patient care, as well as to research, education and community engagement.”
Lists of outstanding doctors are one useful guide for patients seeking to find the best care for themselves and their families. Doctors often know their peers well because they sometimes may care for the same people and often are asked by patients, family and friends for recommendations in other specialties.
