UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center was named a 2020 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner for its patient experience in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by Press Ganey. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have achieved the 95th percentile or above for performance in patient experience.
The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award is a nationally recognized symbol of achievement in health care. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top five percent of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year.

To enhance patient experience and patient safety, the NICU at UCLA Health - Santa Monica Medical Center practices Family Integrated Care, a family-centered care model that supports parents as their child's most important care provider. This approach uses strategies such as parent-led daily bedside rounds to facilitate partnership, trust and collaboration between parents and NICU staff.
