BACKGROUND:
It is estimated that two-thirds of U.S. adults and almost a third of children are either overweight or obese. The UCLA Health's doctors and nurses treat the negative health effects of obesity and poor eating habits in patients all too frequently, and they are committed to improving the health of the community through partnerships such as Food Revolution Day. Additionally, the UCLA Health is dedicated to providing opportunities for its own doctors, nurses and staff members to embrace healthy cooking and eating habits.

Funds raised through all Food Revolution Day events will go toward Oliver's foundation projects in the UK, U.S. and Australia. In the U.S., funds will go toward launching the "Food Education Box" project at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Each box will include fruits or vegetables along with a recipe, fun facts and a lesson plan to educate kids about cooking with fresh fruits and vegetables.
