Internal Funding
The UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCLA Health JCCC) has established the Intramural Awards Program to support and develop cancer research projects within the UCLA community. This program offers a variety of funding opportunities, including Seed Grants, Tumor Specific Impact Grants, Fellowships, and Strategic Plan Aligned Projects. Both UCLA Health JCCC members and non-members are welcome to apply.
Intramural Award Opportunities
Seed Grants
This program provides research funding to investigators from all areas of cancer research, including basic, translational, clinical, and population science. It specifically funds cancer-focused applications from UCLA faculty and collaborative projects between any two UCLA Health JCCC members proposing a new collaboration. Non-Cancer Center members can also apply for cancer-focused projects. Seed Grants are awarded biannually in the Spring and Fall cycles.
Impact Grants
This program assists investigators working together on a specific cancer problem and promotes the submission of multi-investigator applications to an extramural funding agency. Eligibility is limited to UCLA faculty who are members of the UCLA Health JCCC. Teams must consist of three or more faculty, and the formulation of new teams of investigators who have not previously interacted is encouraged. Impact Grants are awarded on a select basis.
Strategic Plan Aligned Projects
This program seeks to engage the UCLA cancer community in making progress against cancer in alignment with the UCLA Health JCCC and Cancer Center Support Grant strategic plan. Applications for research and project proposals in basic, translational, clinical, population sciences, and health services areas are encouraged. Proposed projects must aim to advance progress in one or more UCLA Health JCCC Strategic Plan priority areas.
Fellowship Awards
This program provides funding to Post-Doctoral Scholars/Fellows, Residents, and Graduate Students from all areas of cancer research, including basic, translational, clinical, and population science. The purpose of this program is to support fellows in developing and submitting an NIH F-grant application. Fellowship Awards are generally awarded annually in the Spring.
Other Opportunities
The UCLA Health JCCC also provides support through nomination-based funding programs like the Ablon Scholar Awards Program as well as through program specific competitions like the Program Leader Vision Fund Grants.
