For the seventh consecutive year, UCLA Health placed among the nation's leaders in utilizing technology to improve the quality of patient care.
UCLA Health earned a "Most Wired" performance excellence award in 2019 surveys of both inpatient and ambulatory settings conducted by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). The award places UCLA Health among the top 10 percent of performers in results released this month. More than 16,000 organizations were represented in the Most Wired program, previously administered by the American Hospital Association.
The surveys assess how effectively health care organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities.
"This recognition reflects UCLA Health's investment in advanced technology systems that are transforming the way we deliver care," said Michael Pfeffer, MD, assistant vice chancellor and chief information officer for UCLA Health Sciences. "Our information technology teams work diligently to stay ahead of the technology curve to ensure greater connectivity among health care providers and make health care more accessible and convenient for our patients."

UCLA Health's comprehensive electronic health record system is a prime example of how technology is being used to facilitate a seamless patient experience. The system allows patients to communicate with caregivers, access test results, request prescription refills, and manage appointments through the myUCLAhealth patient portal. The system also generates data on outcomes that are used to adjust treatment plans.
