Our Schools
UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind has provided resources and support to more than 150 schools in the Los Angeles area, impacting nearly 200,000 students on an annual basis.
Across the country, school physical education programs are critically underfunded contributing to an increased number of overweight and physically inactive students. A recent study by the Children’s Defense Fund found adolescents who live in low-income neighborhoods were nine times more likely to be overweight when compared to their peers in better-off areas.
UCLA Health Sound Body Sound Mind’s goal is to assist Los Angeles area middle schools and high schools by providing educators comprehensive resources to prepare students for a lifetime of healthy activity. Over 74% of our partner schools are located in low-income communities, where students have limited access to safe opportunities to be active.
