Dr. Savjani was born outside of Chicago, IL and grew up around Houston, TX. His combined his interest in computers and the brain by majoring in EE/CS as well as brain and cognitive sciences at MIT. There, he developed a growing interest in understanding the organization of the human brain, which led him to study neuroimaging while pursuing an MD/PhD at Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Savjani’s PhD work involved mapping how saccadic eye movements are represented spatially across the human superior colliculus, as well as a variety of structural and functional MRI projects. He made a brief return to Chicago for his transitional year at the University of Chicago (North Shore) before joining the Radiation Oncology Residency Program at UCLA.
