Alison G. Wong, PhD, LMFT
Director of Integrative Services
Responsibilities
As the Director of Integrative Services, I provide oversight and support for the development and delivery of the comprehensive integrative services at the Simms/Mann Center. In this role, I work to ensure that patients and families affected by cancer have access to a wide range of services that include, but are not limited to, nutrition support, psychiatry services, spiritual care, and support groups. I am dedicated to fostering a collaborative, integrative, patient-centered approach that addresses patients' emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.
Training & Professional Work
After receiving my bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, I earned my master's and doctoral degrees in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Connecticut. My academic training was further enriched by specialized clinical experience in medical family therapy, where I provided therapy and support to families impacted by chronic illness. After moving to Los Angeles in 2014, I served as an Assistant Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Seminary. Most recently, I served as the Program and Clinical Director at Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley. My primary responsibilities included supervising a clinical team of licensed and training clinicians and leading staff and volunteers to deliver psychosocial programs free of charge to anyone impacted by cancer.
Personal Interests and Perspectives
I am third-generation Chinese-American and I was born in Phoenix, Arizona. I love to hike and explore new places and cultures through travel and food. I enjoy spending quality time with loved ones and building new relationships. I believe in the power of community and strength through connection.
