Responsibilities
As a social work intern at the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology, I provide psychological and emotional support to individuals and families navigating the profound challenges of cancer. In this role, I work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary medical team, delivering evidence-based psychosocial interventions tailored to the unique needs of each patient. My responsibilities extend beyond clinical care, as I also connect patients with vital community resources, ensuring a continuum of support throughout their cancer journey. I am committed to fostering a compassionate and empowering environment, helping individuals confront the emotional and existential complexities that accompany cancer.
Professional Experience
I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Chapman University and am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Southern California. My clinical journey began at Community West Treatment Center in Santa Monica, where I provided therapeutic support to adolescents and young adults in addressing mental health concerns and promoting emotional resilience.
My professional path has been deeply enriched by global mental health and educational initiatives. I completed a year-long teaching fellowship in Israel, where I taught English and gained a profound understanding of cultural adaptation and resilience in education. In Ghana, I contributed to efforts aimed at combating period poverty, an issue with profound implications for gender equity and mental well-being. In Morocco, I worked with psychiatric patients, gaining insight into the intersection of mental health and cultural contexts. These international experiences have broadened my understanding of care across diverse settings and populations, shaping my commitment to providing culturally responsive, holistic care.
Personal Interests and Perspectives
Outside of my professional endeavors, I find my greatest sense of peace by the ocean. Whether it's walking along the shore, swimming, or simply watching the waves, the sea is where I feel most at home. When I'm not near the water, you’ll likely find me hiking through nature or exploring new restaurants and trying exciting foods with friends.
