Linda Shaleen, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Responsibilities
As a clinical social worker at Simms/Mann, I provide psychosocial support to patients and families facing the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. I provide individual counseling, family support, assistance with navigating the healthcare system, psycho-education and referrals to community-based programs. My goal is to provide a safe and empathetic environment for the people I work with.
Training and Personal Work
I graduated from Antioch, Santa Barbara with an undergraduate degree in psychology and a minor in Human Development. While attending undergraduate school I discovered that my professional passion was work in health-care as a support for individuals and families. This led me to obtaining my Masters of Social Work from California State University of Fresno. While in graduate school, I interned for the Department of Social Services Youth Counseling Department. I also worked privately as a caregiver for individuals with chronic illnesses, and as a facilitator in a girls group home.
I began my post-graduate career serving foster children and families. After a few years, I transitioned into home health and hospice. Providing community referral services, and end of life support to patients and their families.
As I began my family, I went into private practice offering psychological counseling. My focus clients were people adjusting to chronic illnesses, accepting a new diagnosis or experiencing loss. I specialized in EMDR, CBT and Mindfulness.
I am excited to bring my experience and skill set to the Simms/Mann Center.
Personal Interests
In my free time, I am an avid reader. I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, boating at the lake, or dirt bike riding.
