Responsibilities
As a social work intern at the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology, I offer emotional and psychological support to individuals and families coping with the difficulties of a cancer diagnosis. Working alongside a multidisciplinary medical team, I provide personalized, evidence-based psychosocial care designed to address each patient’s unique circumstances. Additionally, I help patients connect with crucial community resources to make sure they have access to ongoing support throughout their journey. My role emphasizes creating a nurturing and empowering space, guiding individuals as they navigate the emotional and existential challenges that are often associated with cancer.
Professional Experience
I hold a B.S. in Psychology from Florida State University and am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Southern California. My social work journey began at Catholic Charities of Los Angeles’ Good Shepherd Shelter for women and their children, where I provided therapeutic support for women and children experiencing domestic violence.
My personal experience with a chronic health condition shaped my professional journey and ignited my passion for supporting others. Overcoming those challenges, thanks to life-saving medical interventions, inspired me to help individuals navigate the intricate medical and emotional aspects of living with a chronic condition.
Personal Interests and Perspectives
In my free time, I enjoy playing the drums and spending time with friends.
