Care Compliments

Lauren ?.

I would like to compliment Lauren, who is in charge of the 3rd floor Surgical Waiting Area. She is constantly helping patients waiting for a procedure as well as relatives of patients waiting while our loved ones are undergoing a procedure.
She rarely sits down -- guides patients to the restroom, brings them warm blankets (it is very cold in this room), answers questions and if she doesn't know the answer, will make a call to find out . Last but not least, she very kindly makes calls to keep you up to date on your loved-one's progress.
Lauren was there for me two days in a row in October, when my husband's angiogram did not succeed the first time.

Matthew S.

Dr. Matthew Snow fixed the pain in one toe on each foot by using a painless procedure I was unaware of. It took ten-fifteen minutes tops and it worked. Before he did the procedure, he explained in detail how it would work. He is my permanent go-to toe guy. He also recommended and ordered a unique brace to address my drop-toe issue and it also works very well...it fixed the problem! I highly recommend Dr. Snow.

Erica U.

Erica was so comforting and patient with my brother and with us. She took time to listen to our concerns and engage in conversation. While she was lighthearted, she always took my brother's condition seriously. Thanks Erica, and congratulations on your wedding!

Becca U.

Becca was a fantastic nurse for my brother, who was a very young bypass patient. Her kindness, patience, and thoroughness was fantastic. She took everything in stride, explaining the facts and the situation in understandable language. She was just a very pleasant bright spot during our scary time in ICU. Many thanks, Becca!!

Sergio F.

We have come to the cardiologist two times now in the past week. Each time Sergio greeted us as soon as we came off the elevator, with a bright smile and a friendly hello. My fiancee, who came in to see the cardiologist regarding an irregular heart rhythm, was very nervous coming into the appointments. Generally, life has been stressful as we figure out how to balance my work schedule as an ICU nurse, his 24hr shift schedule as a firefighter/paramedic, me going back to school for my master's, and planning our wedding that takes place in a couple of weeks from now. The added stress of not knowing what is going on with my fiancee's heart feels perhaps more overwhelming than it might have if everything else in life was more low-key. Having a friendly face to greet us at appointments makes a huge difference. It might seem like a small gesture, but for us, it set the tone for an overall great experience at our visits and makes us feel well taken care of. The cardiologist that he sees, Dr. Melkon Hacobian, has also been wonderful. He immediately made us feel comfortable and patiently listened as we reviewed what was going on. He reassured both of us in a way that made us feel like Mike's care was in great hands. We are so appreciative of Dr. Hacobian, Sergio, and having access to high-quality medical care at UCLA.

Nadine N.

Nadine is the amazing Phlebotomist and Lab Tech at the Primary Care office in Redondo Beach so please make sure she gets this standing ovation.
I am writing this compliment as Nadine was wonderful with my 9 year old son. My son had never had a blood draw and he is extremely scared of needles. Nadine took us to a private area with a lounge chair that both me and my son could sit in so I could hold him and comfort him. She asked the assistance of another staff member, an MA whose name I unfortunately did not get, so they could hold his arm steady. Nadine was so patient and kind with my son. She talked to him and asked him about his day to get him comfortable. She explained every step she was going to take to my son. And when he got scared she took the time he needed and never rushed him to get the draw done. Once my son was ready for the actual draw, Nadine was so swift and completed the phlebotomy so well. She even allowed us to take the time we needed in the room to calm my son after the draw as he was recovering from the emotions. Once he was calmer, Nadine checked on him and even asked if he wanted to see his tubes and took the time to explain how cool blood is and how the tubes will be sent to get tests done. I mean she went above and beyond to make my son's first ever phlebotomy a successful experience. She even gave him a coupe of sticky hand toys in the form of geckos. My son and I felt that Nadine did an excellent job. My son left feeling like he had accomplished a huge task with the help of Nadine. She is exactly the kind of medical staff we want to experience every time we go to a medical office. She truly embodies excellence in care. I want to thank her for making what was a stressful moment for my son and for myself into a moment of achievement and success.

Luke M.

Dr. Luke Macyszyn is an amazing doctor! He did my back surgery. The first visit with him, he answered all the questions and concerns that I had. Right before the surgery, he made sure I was doing okay and checked to see if I had any last minute concerns. The days after the surgery, my back was already feeling much better! All the post op appoiments, either him or Dr. Jenna Pastorelli, answered any questions I had and went through how my back was healing. I truly appreciate Dr Luke Macyszyn (and Jenna!)! Thank you!
