Annual Comprehensive Ophthalmology Review Course.

Overview

This four-day intensive virtual and in-person program, aimed at ophthalmologists and trainees, will review the clinical essentials of each subspecialty in ophthalmology. It will be a clinically oriented review concentrating on the epidemiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of ophthalmologic disease; and will help prepare course participants for OKAPS, ABO, and maintenance recertification examinations. The course will cover the important clinical principles of ophthalmology and update any changes to traditional clinical protocols. It will be a review of the accepted clinical practice and will not cover research-related topics. Basic scientific mechanisms and research therapies will not be covered.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify recommended time points for retinopathy of prematurity surveillance
  2. Familiarize with different types and causes of pediatric cataracts and timing of cataract surgery
  3. Identify location of central pathology based on visual field patterns
  4. Familiarize with different corneal dystrophies and corresponding pattern of inheritance
  5. Understand the indications for for endothelial keratoplasty vs. penetrating keratoplasty and common complications of each
  6. Recognize the indications and contraindications of implanting multifocal intraocular lenses
  7. Identify the available minimally invasive glaucoma devicese and the indications and potential complications of each
  8. Recognize concerning features of choroidal lesions
  9. Differentiate between different white dot syndromes
  10. describe eyelid anatomy by listing each layer from superficial to deep

$350 Practicing Ophthalmologists (Thursday-Sunday, February 8-11, 2024)
$200 Ophthalmology Residents and Fellows (with verification letter from training program) Thursday-Sunday, February 8-11, 2024
$125 Per day registration
