About Us
A closer look at the HEaL Trauma Program
Our mission: At UCLA Health’s Healing, Empowering, and Liberating (HEaL) Trauma Program, we offer compassionate care and tailored support, helping trauma survivors heal, find stability, and rebuild their lives with dignity.

Key focus areas
See how we're transforming trauma care:
- Social drivers of health (SDOH): Addressing housing, employment, and healthcare access
- Mental health support: Fostering emotional well-being and healthy behaviors
- Risk reduction: Preventing re-traumatization and re-hospitalization
- Quality of life: Providing holistic care for long-term healing
- Health equity: Promoting equitable, lasting outcomes.
- Research & education: Innovating trauma care and training the next generation of clinicians
Whole-person care approach
We go beyond traditional, siloed approaches to patient care by integrating medical expertise with mental health services and community-based support.
This collaborative framework, known as whole-person care, ensures that every patient’s recovery is individualized. By addressing the full spectrum of recovery needs, the HEaL Trauma Program’s whole-person care framework enhances outcomes and empowers patients to rebuild their lives.

Putting patients first
While providing world-class medical and surgical care, we also prioritize mental health services and PTSD interventions to address the emotional and psychological dimensions of trauma.
Healing beyond the hospital
The transition from hospital to home is a pivotal stage in recovery. During this phase, our Community Health Workers (CHWs) help bridge care gaps by identifying social barriers, providing personalized resources, and offering ongoing support.
