About Quality
Quality and safety are the top priorities for UCLA Health and the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA. With this priority in mind, we join with other leading hospitals, physician groups, employers and health insurance associations to improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare in the United States. Working together, we have established national, evidence-based measures to evaluate, standardize and compare the performance of hospitals, physicians and other providers. We believe that patients should have open and transparent access to the information necessary for them to make informed choices about the physicians and hospitals they select for their care.

RNPH Quality Council
The RNPH Quality Council includes hospital leadership and meets monthly to identify and discuss priorities for quality improvement at the hospital. The broad goals of the RNPH Quality Council are to:
- Expand quality-improvement framework, methods and infrastructure for the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center consultation-liaison service and day-treatment/after-care programs.
- Support a culture of quality improvement involving staff in all disciplines and client/family representatives to improve services and outcomes.
- Generate new leaders in quality improvement for intensive psychiatric services. RNPH quality-improvement projects are often presented to the Council at monthly meetings for feedback and input on next steps.
Licensing and Accreditations
Accreditation and recognition by professional organizations are the foundations of quality assurance in healthcare. The hospitals of UCLA Health are fully accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC), the State of California, and they meet all National Patient Safety Goals. TJC accreditation is a voluntary process that looks at a hospital's health, quality and safety standards. TJC conducts on-site surveys to review areas that affect patient care.
Additionally, the LPS Designated Program at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital is accredited by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
