Acquired, or autoimmune, blistering disorders are conditions in which linkages between the epidermis and dermis in the skin and mucous membranes become compromised. This results in the development of potentially widespread blisters and ulcerations. The Acquired Blistering Disorders (Immunobullous Disease) Clinic is supervised by Dr. Vanessa Holland, the Medical Director and Clinical Chief of the Division of Dermatology. Dr. Holland has a special interest in managing the following diseases:
- Undiagnosed blistering disorders of the skin and mucous membranes
- Pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus variants including pemphigus foliaceous, paraneoplastic pemphigus, pemphigus erythematosus, etc.
- Bullous pemphigoid and pemphigoid variants including cicatricial pemphigoid/mucous membrane pemphigoid, anti-p200 pemphigoid, etc.
- Epidermolysis bullosa acquisita
- Linear IgA bullous dermatosis
- Dermatitis herpetiformis
- Oral erosive lichen planus
It is strongly encouraged that prior records be brought to the initial visit, including prior biopsy results, prior laboratory results, and lists of current medications.
