Radiation Treatment at UCLA – The Mission is U
Over 300 patients with head and neck cancer are seen each year at UCLA. Tumors managed by head and neck physicians at UCLA include those arising within the oral cavity, larynx, pharynx, salivary glands, thyroid, nose and sinuses.
At UCLA Radiation Oncology, we have a strong and diverse team of radiation oncologists specialized in treating head and neck cancer. We are able to treat patients at any stage of this disease. Our radiation oncologists conduct weekly conferences with physicians from the departments of Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT) Surgery, Pathology, Radiology, Head and Neck Psychology and Medical Oncology to create comprehensive treatment plans for our patients with head and neck cancer. We also participate in a multidisciplinary clinic once per week, where patients can have the opportunity to consult with physicians from the various services listed above in the same visit. During the course of radiation treatment for head and neck cancer, our patients also work closely with the departments of Speech Pathology, Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, Nutrition, and Research.
