During the birth of my daughter and the recovery in the hospital, Ella took such great care of me and my family. She spent time with us in the room and listened to our questions and concerns. She made us feel like we were the only patient in the hospital she was taking care of. She helped me with breastfeeding in such a positive and affirming way! I can't say enough about how fabulous she was! Thank you Ella!

I was asked by Cigna to review Dr. Cavallero. Since he is the best doctor I have ever had, it was an easy review. This is what I wrote:

"I'm in my mid-50's and Dr. Cavallero is the best doctor that I have ever had and I've had many. He devotes his attention fully to you, he remembers the prior visits even if it has been a year, and he exudes care and compassion. I really wish he could be son's doctor, but my son is still in the pediatrician age. Have lived in different parts of the country... different parts of Los Angeles... and have never had a more positive experience with a doctor than Dr. Cavallero. For a letter grade he gets an A+++++++. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give him a 5500! He is the doctor other doctors need to model themselves after!"

Gil Y.

Gil, thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to answer all of my questions and easing my mind. It isn't easy being in a hospital, especially at a time like this. It really makes a difference when someone lifts your spirits, like you have for me. You are awesome at what you do.

Dr. Sridhar saw me through two pregnancies and always made me feel I had the best care. While a pregnancy is a joyous time in many ways, it's also the most vulnerable I've ever felt and I was so grateful to know I was getting attentive, thoughtful care. Dr. Sridhar never rushed our appointments, always answered the myriad questions my husband and I threw at her and was very thoughtful about taking our concerns into consideration. She has such a bright, positive energy and her confidence and knowledge always made us feel secure in our collective decision-making, as she made us feel like partners in our care. I could also see that the rest of her staff loved working with her, and that truly does have an effect on us patients. I'm so grateful I found her!!

Undoubtedly we live in the most critical time in our lives. Covid19 has upended everything and all things. I am 79 and and my wife is 76. Needless to say we are in the high risk group. Recently both my wife and myself had our yearly physical examination and we jointly share a common PCP and she is Dr. Ashley Bateman.

Dr. Bateman answered our many questions and provided us a great deal of assurance about what we needed to do to be safe. I should mention we have been patients of Dr. Bateman for over seven years.

For several weeks now I have been trying to get a vaccination appointment and like from heaven UCLA first contacted my wife about two weeks ago and she has had her first shot. Just yesterday I got mine. It was a seamless process and involved a minimum of time. UCLA Healthcare has untied the Gordian knot of vaccinations. Thank you.

But that takes me back to Dr. Bateman who knows our medical history and always looks out for our best interests. In fact it is family medicine juts like in the old days. Thank you Dr. Bateman and Thank You, UCLA -- a very big organization but caring about every patient as exemplified by the care we receive from Dr. Bateman..

Sincerely,
Pete and Kathy J.

Alan G.

I wish to express my sincere appreciation for the compassionate and "above and beyond" care I received from Dr. Alan Gorn over the past four years. As he is now "semi-retired" (and reducing is patient load), I will no longer be able to consider him "my doctor" but although I am sad to be losing him as "my doctor", I reflect on how really fortunate I have been to have his support (and expertise!) for the last four years. I wish him the very best always and wish I had written this compliment sooner so he would know how one more patient thought "the world of him". Thank you.

I have been her patient since 2018 when I needed to start chemo after my breast cancer surgery. First you should know that she is very smart and knowledgeable. And she listens, really listens. I never felt rushed during our appointments, and always left feeling uplifted after our visits. She is also very compassionate, very responsive, and extremely reassuring on the days I would sit in her office and cry because it felt like the chemo would never end....

She even emailed me one Sunday morning in July of 2018 with the results of my kidney scan just so I didn't have to wait another day to find out the results.

She also helped me with navigating the radiation treatments that followed chemo, even though they were done outside of UCLA in Thousand Oaks. When I had a doctor on my team that I was uncomfortable with, she helped me find a different one even though it wasn't a cancer-related issue. (She also helped us find a good surgeon for my husband in 2019).

During those early years at UCLA I had 18 doctors following my multiple, unrelated cancer issues (three different kinds). Even with my 2-inch thick medical file, some of the doctors would forget who I was in between visits that were a few months apart and it was like groundhog day going over my case from the beginning and updating my progress (I became a professional patient!). I know the doctors have many many patients, so I understood why they might forget who I was or what my medical and/or medication situation was and I had to remind them. Dr. Melissa never, ever forgot who I was.

Fast forward to 2021, I postponed two visits last year and this year, and I have not seen her for over 13 months because I was so scared, [and too fat and old] to venture out during COVID to a medical office. She was always kind about my fears and understood my postponement requests and she also helped me avoid crowded Jury Duty in the middle of all of this craziness. When I saw her today, she remembered me and we chatted during our visit like no time had passed at all. The office was clean, as always, and I felt like everyone was being very careful about the COVID threat.

I have had the opportunity to move away from the area, but with excellent medical care from Dr. Cohen and most of my UCLA team, I choose to stay right where I am, I would adopt her into my family, if only I could.

Dr. Cohen, you are truly amazing, wonderful, and I thank you for taking such good care of me on every level. I do wish I could have you as my primary forever!

Juan, Care Coordinator

I am writing for two reasons: 1) to express my gratitude for Juan, the Care Coordinator who so ably helped me this past December, and 2) to say that the Care Coordinator position/program was extremely beneficial to my dad's healthcare.

My dad was hospitalized on 12/7 because of a stroke, and when he came home, there was a long list of follow-up appointments I was supposed to make: Cardiology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Urology, and Vascular Surgery.

December is one of the busiest months at the university since it's the end of a semester, so in between all of my duties, I was trying to schedule appointments. I spent what added up to a good hour a day calling, leaving messages, returning messages, missing folks, etc. When Juan first contacted me, I was feeling discouraged and figured he was nice but would not be able to help.

It was like night and day. Within a couple days, offices were reaching out to me, and I was able to schedule all of the appointments with little fuss. I don't know what Juan did, but he got results!

At one point, Juan's co-worker, also a Care Coordinator whose name I do not remember, reached out to follow up. By then, I had made all of the necessary appointments, but how wonderful if I had needed the additional assistance. I feel that I'm on top of my dad's care (mostly), and still a Care Coordinator was valuable in helping me to get my dad the medical appointments he needed. I'm sure the Care Coordinator position is life-saving for patients who may not have the language skills, navigational skills (or a daughter!) to make the appointments, especially during these times when most things are virtual.
