By far one of the best nurses I have ever had. I felt a connection and bond with her and felt safe and cared about. Her bedside manner is wonderful and her personality is sweet. She is punctual and did a great job managing my ear pain.

I want to share my appreciation with UCLA Administration for singling out 65+ volunteers to obtain the Covid vaccine in such a timely manner. To give us volunteers this consideration is very much appreciated!
Secondly, I was very impressed with the clear communication regarding how we needed to schedule ourself for the vaccine. The software was beautifully designed to pick a date, time, and location at our convenience. It was extremely user friendly and efficient how the scheduling of the first dose was connected to the second dose.
In addition, on arriving at UCLA SM, it was immediately apparent how organized the process was. I was greeted very friendly at the entrance to the hospital and directed to the auditorium. Everyone I came in contact with was professional and friendly as well. It took no time at all and I was on my way!
A lot of thought by many people had to be put into making such a successful vaccination program.

Listening to the media one came to expect "long lines" and "wait times" etc. My experience could not have been any better!

I just want to make my appreciation known to all involved. I am not taking it fore granted that things went so well. Having been in healthcare in my professional life, I know how many hours must have been spent by many to pull this off!

With sincere appreciation and thanks for making what otherwise could have been a very stressful experience a "walk in the park"!

Dr. Yanagawa,
Thank you for taking care of my brother Michael. This was his first experience having any surgery. Your compassion and attention to his needs is exceptional. He felt so safe and confident that he was receiving the best care. We are completely in awe of you and your staff's expertise and attention to detail. Thank you for everything.

She's very skilled as someone who is used to getting stuck multiple times for IV. She did it once with confidence, grace and ease. Made me feel comfortable the whole procedure and is a master of her craft.

This guy is the best. Took the time to explain an old Mri that the old doctor never touched. He knew the problem and was incredible.

I would like to take a moment to thank Dr. Carlie Thompson, MD for her incredible service as a fantastic surgeon but also as a person who cares about people. Dr. Thompson took the time to listen to me and what was important. She did not make me feel that my decisions were wrong, rather she gave me facts and allowed me to weigh my options. Dr. Thompson knew how scared I was to have surgery and she did everything she could do to make sure it was as easy and the best experience it could be. She even gave me a hug when I was almost in tears before my surgery. She knew I was having a very hard time with all that was going on around me. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know who needed breast surgery. Dr. Thompson even took the time to check on me after my surgery. I feel blessed to have found her and thankful for all that she has done for me. She has earned my trust and respect as an absolutely amazing doctor who cares about her patients as a whole person.

Any emergent situation is difficult and nerve wracking. Every single day at UCLA Santa Monica provides itself with new and interesting challenges, but none compare to the ominous words "Code Blue." While 5NW has had its share of emergency situations, "code blue" is always the king of emergencies. It's during events such as "code blue" where everyone is put to the test and to their limits. While "code blue" may test one's skills, the biggest test of all during a "code blue" is the test of teamwork. 5NW has the best teamwork in the whole hospital system, however Dawn is the ultimate team player. During a recent code blue emergency, everyone on 5NW rushed to help, but Dawn went above and beyond. Not only did Dawn assist with the code itself, she helped pass medications, hung IV fluids, and placed a recent patient admission on cardiac monitoring without being asked to do so. While I was dealing with the code blue situation, she continued the standard of care on 5NW, and prevented any delays in treatment/monitoring for other patients. Her acts that day made a difference for so many, including myself. When approached about doing all of these wonderful acts, she turned to me and said "that's what we do here." Dawn exemplifies everything that nurses should strive to be. UCLA health and especially 5NW are lucky to have such a nurse who embodies the mission and vision of UCLA so well. Thank you Dawn, you made a difference that day.

I just wanted to express my gratitude for Dr. Heitmann. I truly believe she saved my life. I tested positive for COVID 19 on December 12, 2020. I have asthma and am extremely overweight. COVID hit me hard. Dr. Heitmann's care and treatment plan got me through the worst parts and she is still helping me through it. Her lever of care and guidance is unmatched. I will forever be grateful and thankful to Dr. Heitmann and the care and support that she provided to me and my family not just through COVID but all health matters. Thank you Dr. Heitmann.

I'm a patient of UCLA and love my primary care physician Dr. Diane Kim. But this compliment is specifically for the entire ER department that is currently taking care of patients in the Santa Monica location. This past Friday my father-in-law (who is very ill) had an unusual episode and we thought we had lost him. We brought him to UCLA and you did not disappoint. The staff and nurses are amazing. I know how frustrating and difficult these times are but you all delivered 110%. Going into a hospital when they are over capacity and in the middle of a pandemic, we had no hope. You brought him back to life. We can't take you enough. You are miracle workers. I wouldn't trust any other medical center with my or my family's health. Thank you!

Jack Johnson did my Fetal Echo Cardiogram. He was caring, kind, made me feel super comfortable, and answered all of my questions. He made what could have been a long and uncomfortable appointment easy and enjoyable. He's an asset to your team!

Olivia U.

Until my call to UCLA was answered by Olivia (last name unknown) I had no success getting referred to UCLA. My Physician sent three requests over a three-week period. I followed up on the requests only to learn UCLA had no record of them. On
December 4th, my call was taken by Olivia, who heard my story, contacted my Physician's office, worked with them to obtain the referral information and assure it could be found by UCLA. Then she connected me with staff who was able to make my appointment.

Olivia understood my problem, took the initiative to resolve it, and connected me with the right person. Only her effort made my referral possible. UCLA is most fortunate to have her working on its team.

I am very thankful to Dr. John Ebrahim, for the compassionate and great care he recently provided to my dad, Mr. Mounir Soffer. My dad's heart was failing, and Dr. Ebrahim explained to me in detail my father's condition, he was very kind, understanding, patient, a good listener and would not leave the room until he was certain that he answered all my concerns & questions. A wonderful human being and doctor!

I just want to thank the wonderful, caring nurses who attended to my father's care recently. My father heart's was failing and he was at 6 North after suffering a heart attack, and a stroke. John Lemon is one of the nurse assistants in the department, who showed extreme caring and compassion to my dad and our family who was seeing my dad close to dying. I could see in John's warm, caring and beautiful eyes, that he cared and felt sadness towards my dad, and felt compassion for the difficult emotions my family was going through.

Vanna was extremely warm and friendly when I needed it most. She explained everything to me and made sure I was as comfortable and relaxed as possible. She clearly cares about what she does and her patients. She made the stressful situation of having a surgery as easy as one could wish.

Ms. L.

I had to have a covid test before surgery, on Dec 20, 2020. I was concerned because I had heard it was very unpleasant. I walked into the room where Nurse Lee was awaiting me. I asked her to be gentle and careful; she assured me she would. But she also said the test would be "uncomfortable," and repeated it. She was cheerful and friendly and caring. She then did the test, and I was amazed that I felt almost nothing, and certainly no discomfort. So while she prepared me for what many patients suffer, she did her best, successfully, to spare me the discomfort. She was just great.

Dr Cohen, thank you for all that you did for my wife, Ada Cheatham. She very much respected you, and I wish we had lived closer and could have had you treat Ada regularly. It is unfortunate she passed away, but after Dr. Chamberlain told Ada she would no longer treat nor monitor her, and wanted to pass her off to a unknown team of doctors/nurses (i.e. Hospice), she became distraught. In her mind, Dr Chamberlain broken that sacred doctor/patient bond. Being Asian, Ada only understood it as her doctor firing her, and even asked why not just give her a suicide pill. She knew she didn't have long to live, but took comfort in trying to fight the disease rather than letting go. Again, I want to thank you very much in helping her in her fight. Charlie
