Why I chose UCLA: I chose UCLA for the faculty and small size of the program. Location may have played a role too.
Dr. Stephen Acosta loves the outdoors. He decided to become a doctor while hiking down a 13,000ft volcano in Quito, Ecuador. He grew up surfing in Puerto Rico and during his free time, tries to get out on the water as much as possible. He recently got into kitesurfing and has been working on improving his sailing skills. He also enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and mountain biking. Dr. Acosta speaks passionately about his prior work in Malawi, Chile, and Nepal, and hopes to continue to incorporate global health experiences as part of his career as an Anesthesiologist.
