CCFA: Role of the Microbiome in Crohn's Disease

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine announces a $6.6 million grant award from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America on the role of the microbiome in Crohn's disease.  The three year project will  validate candidate microbiota and their products that determine Crohn's disease state and activity; identify lead molecules for therapeutically targeting these candidates; and, evaluate dietary intervention for the disease.  Jonathan Braun, MD, PhD is the principal investigator of this multi-center study (UCLA, Broad Institute, Washington University, University of North Carolina, among others).
