Olive View - UCLA Surgical Pathology Fellowship
We are excited to offer two one-year fellowship positions in General Surgical Pathology at the UCLA-affiliated Olive View-UCLA Medical Center (OVMC) in Sylmar, California. This fellowship is ideally suited for pathology graduates who are eager to sharpen their diagnostic skills, develop confidence in independent practice, and lay a strong foundation for a successful career in surgical pathology. The Surgical Pathology Fellowship program at OVMC provides extensive hands-on experience in signing out challenging surgical specimens, biopsies, and non-gynecologic cytology cases. Fellows will also participate in intraoperative consultations, frozen sections, and fine needle aspiration procedures (with or without ultrasound guidance).
Additionally, fellows will engage in a variety of clinically oriented collaborations. They will have the opportunity to participate in several interdisciplinary conferences, including daily intradepartmental consensus conferences, weekly general tumor boards, weekly gynecologic oncology tumor boards, weekly colposcopy meetings, weekly GI-Pathology conferences, monthly pulmonary pathology conferences, and other periodic meetings.
The Surgical Pathology Fellowship at OVMC also offers valuable teaching, research, and administrative experiences, such as participation in CAP Laboratory Accreditation Inspections.
The majority of rotations will take place at OVMC, with the option to pursue elective rotations at other hospitals, including UCLA-affiliated institutions.
After six months, fellows may function as junior attendings with sign-out privileges, taking on cases with gradually increasing responsibility.
