Life in LA
The UCLA Pathology Residency Program is located in one of the most exciting cities in the country. Los Angeles offers an endless number of enriching cultural, entertainment, and recreational activities fit for any lifestyle. There is truly something for everyone. Our residents take full advantage of living in beautiful, sunny California and enjoy spending time with family, friends, and each other away from their microscopes.
Food
Foodies, rejoice! Los Angeles is a food mecca with a diverse array of places to dine. The food scene in LA is a big deal, and it’s no coincidence that most of our residents said that trying new restaurants was one of their favorite weekend activities. Besides indulging in delicious food adventures, our residents often make boba/coffee runs and frequent the local farmer’s market that takes place in Westwood Village every Thursday.

Los Angeles is famous for its beaches, and UCLA is just five miles from the nearest one. Popular activities include surfing, biking, playing beach volleyball, and running. If you ask around, there’s always at least one resident who was relaxing at the beach over the weekend. LA also has plenty of hiking trails and bike paths to explore, in addition to scenic campsites and world class ski resorts a short drive away. Even if you’re just going to a local yoga class after work, get ready to switch out those scrubs for some work out gear!
