For Physicians

The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA has in a little more than 60 years grown to become an internationally recognized leader in medical education and research. Our physicians and faculty are dedicated to training outstanding clinicians from all walks of life and helping the next generation of physician-scientists advance their discoveries into breakthrough medicines.
As such, we have developed the following programs for international physicians:
Physician Observerships: The UCLA Health International Physician Observership Program provides a structured clinical training over a one to three-month period, to licensed foreign physicians who wish to upgrade skills in their specialty.
Executive Management: UCLA Health Management Programs share the unique skills and methods by which our leaders manage our organization every day and offers others the opportunity to observe and learn from our clinicians.
Simulation Education: Healthcare simulators increase trainee confidence and competence, improve patient safety, and can also yield cost and process efficiencies.
Continuing Medical Education: UCLA offers significant opportunities for unique educational experiences, no matter what level of experience you have or type of education you are seeking.

Physician Alumni Testimonials
“(I was) able to learn from my mentor, his clinical eye and critical thinking in seeing patients not only regarding pulmonary vascular medicine but the whole clinical picture. (I gained) exposure to a lot of interesting as well as rare cases, advance equipments, procedures and medicines that are available in UCLA which is very helpful to my hospital in our country. (I) learned how to manage pulmonary patients with other physicians from multidisciplinary perspective.”
“My observership at UCLA has been one of the most fruitful things I have done during my training…I think that the most important think I have taught to my colleagues is the way people work at UCLA, the mentality of sharing the knowledge and (continuous) improvement.”
"I didn’t use CICARE (UCLA Health’s Patient Experience philosophy) before and it has been really useful for me now that I’m back in Spain. During my observership I realized that in Spain most of the days we don’t have enough time to see the patients and sometimes we get frustrated and don’t treat the patient as we should. Now, even if the time problem is still the same, every morning I try to think about how would doctors at UCLA use CICARE and try to do my best. This morning, for example, I had clinic with lots of patients but I tried to use your method, and I really feel that the patients went happy and understanding what was happening, what makes me feel satisfied with my work.”
