The Cardiovascular Outcomes Research Laboratories (CORELAB) in the UCLA Department of Surgery was established in 2012. While initially in the basement of an old chemistry lab, CORELAB is now located in the UCLA Center for Health Sciences and spans a number of scientific areas. The roots of the laboratory were based on computer simulation and cardiovascular modeling for educational purposes. However, the group has grown to over 24 investigators, including undergraduates, medical students, graduate research scholars, residents, and fellows. We are involved in a variety of projects from clinical outcomes to the design of sophisticated medical training models and devices.
