Why IM-PM at UCLA?

The IM-PM program attracts a group of individuals who seek to blend rigorous clinical training for diverse patient populations across 4 hospital systems in general internal medicine with in-depth population health training while experiencing the dynamic world of public health within the second largest municipal health system in the US.

 Our graduates are not only trained to provide excellent clinical care to individual patients, but are also poised to become leaders and advocates in the larger field of population health and to take on additional roles in organizations and communities to address health-system needs.

  • Become double board-eligible for Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine.
  • Receive a fully-funded MPH degree from a truly world-class school of public health.
  • Acquire practical skills to design and implement public health interventions.
  • Tailored education in the program through coursework and projects in various fields related to health policy and/or management.
  • Acquire significant education and tools that cater towards paths to become future physician leaders of health systems, public health departments, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Pursue a wide range of career paths, including clinical practice, public health, health policy, health services research, academic medicine and private industry.
